Hello
My name is Meilyn Kennedy. I am a freelance artist based in Wiesbaden, Germany. I began my training in ballet (2010-2017) before expanding into broader movement studies during my time at the Arts Umbrella Dance Graduate Program (2017-2019). After this, I joined the Hessisches Staatsballet Wiesbaden (2019-2025) as a company member. Here, I was able to expand my interests, creating three works for company dancers that were shown in dancer-led and curated evenings. I also had the pleasure of participating as a member of Move2Reach, a dancer-initiated outreach program. Within the last year, I transitioned into freelance work, performing at Nexus Dance Festival (2024) and co-creating a collaborative participatory happening within the International Maifestspiele Wiesbaden (2025). Alongside movement, my interests include photography, videography and interdisciplinary art.
On a personal note, I am curious about art as a way of communication, collaboration, and community. My current research explores the intersectionality of art, politics and systematic structures by dissecting, understanding and critiquing social ideas and norms that affect everyday life, the art form and therefore the product. Alongside my artistic practice, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology, which meaningfully inform my work.
